iKhanom is a small cinema theatre hall located in Pol-e Surkh, Kabul. iKhanom aims to provide a family-friendly atmosphere to watch films and get entertainment. iKhanom is working closely with artists facilitating Afghan filmmakers to screen their films to Afghan audience. It is also one of the few places for the student of cinema schools to watch films and have discussions and debates.
iKhanom is named after Ai-Khanom (Lady Moon, in Uzbek), an ancient city, possibly built by Alexander the Great in 280 BCE, now located in Takhar Province in Afghanistan.
Looking at the ancient name Ai-Khanom and the history of cinema in Afghanistan, I and the client decided to create a logo that can represent them both. The logo is a combination of the initials ‘I’ and ‘K’ that simply represents an old cinema camera.
